In 1965, Rolex rolled out the 1575 movement, which beat at faster 19.800 VPH and was engraved [1570] for its base calibre. The 1575 movement was later upgraded with a hacking function around 1971; this version of the 1575 remained the same throughout the rest of the 1675s production run. The calibre 1570 is a certified chronometer (COSC) movement. It is an automatic self-winding calibre with 26 jewels. It has a power reserve of 48 hours.
Over the years, Rolex has developed, changed, and experimented, not only with the GMT-Master model but more specifically the color of the bidirectional rotating bezel. Since Rolex launched the first red and blue (“Pepsi”) bezel alternative, Rolex has released a number of different bezel colors since then. An all-black bezel version of the Ref. 1675 was introduced in the early 70s and although it no longer distinguished between pre or post sunset, it was applauded for its sleek and masculine look.
The watch is furnished with a black matte dial that boasts a golden Rolex logo crown at 12 o’clock. This is a MK4 dial. The serifs on the “ROLEX” text are wider and less svelte and the serifs on “OYSTER PERPETUAL” are no longer present. The right vertical line in the “M” of “MASTER” sits right on top of the middle of the “C” in “CHRONOMETER”.
The conical shape of the gold hour markers inspired the nickname “Nipple Dial”. The “Nipple Dial” is a specific dial style found on select vintage Rolex GMT-Master and Submariner watches (depending on the watch, some “Nipple Dials” can be black, brown or blue) with slightly protruding hour markers made of precious metals. These applied round indexes are always crafted in yellow gold and are filled with luminescence for optimal legibility in low light. Sitting alongside the applied yellow gold round hour markers on the Rolex “Nipple Dials” are the familiar baton markers at 6 and 9 o’clock, in addition to the inverted triangular index at 12 o’clock (these 3 indexes are also applied, yellow gold, and lume-filled).

From 1959 to 1980, the Rolex GMT-Master 1675 was the only GMT model produced by Rolex. It became immensely popular and, as in Rolex’s style, was incrementally improved throughout those 21 years.
During the first decade of the GMT-Master 1675’s manufacturing it was only offered on the Oyster bracelet and in 1968 Rolex gave the option between an Oyster and a Jubilee bracelet. This specific two-toned GMT-Master 1675 sports the Jubilee bracelet with the center 3 links in yellow gold.
With its combination of steel and yellow gold, along with the black bezel and black dial configuration and dual time zone functionality, this GMT-Master 1675 is a glamorous sports watch option, especially for those among the chic jet-set lifestyle.
